"The Class of 2021 fully deserve their incredible success this year. As a cohort, they had been hit hardest by the effects of the pandemic, with months of online learning, switching to in-school learning and back again to online. They faced uncertainty, anxiety and unheard-of challenges due to the unknown and ever-changing situation. Guided by their incredibly versatile, committed and equally resilient teachers, this cohort of students demonstrated remarkable grit, self-belief and determination in facing head-on whatever adverse circumstances were presented to them over the last 18 months. The whole ABA community pulled together as one: students, parents, teachers and support staff all ensured the continued success of this graduating class." Guy Essex, Diploma Programme Coordinator
The ABA Class of 2021 has achieved a fantastic set of results which is not only a demonstration of their knowledge and skills; it is also reflective of their learning agility and resilience in such challenging times. Although there are many different measures of achievement and progress in schools, we recognise that strong IBDP results are required for students to achieve places in competitive universities around the globe. Both students and teachers have shown remarkable effort and innovation in their approaches to provide the best opportunity for success. In addition, our supportive parent community has provided the foundations for their children to be successful and achieve their ambitions. With great pleasure, here are some highlights of this year’s Diploma Programme (DP) results.
The Class of 2021 averaged 36.28 points which far exceeds the world average of 33.02 points. The maximum number of points in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) is 45.
This year, 34% of our graduating class (23 students) scored 40 or more points putting them in the top 9% of global IB DP graduates. These results are a true testament to the students and faculty of ABA and their ability to be flexible, resilient and focused during times of uncertainty.
ABA has a high participation rate in the IB Diploma, with over 90% of Grade 12 students participating, and for those students who participated, 99% of students passed.
