Applying to ABA

As an International School, we accept students from all over the world.  ABA’s practice is to place students with their age-appropriate peers.  We are a non-selective School, providing a genuine opportunity to all students who seek to achieve more than they believe they can, with the right guidance and support. With this in mind, we cater to students with various academic backgrounds, which means our Admissions Team must assess each child’s application.

The table below provides the grade for which your child is age-appropriate for Early Childhood, Elementary School, Middle School, and Secondary School. Still, the final grade placement is dependent on the full review of all required and requested documents.

We make a point of getting to know our students well - their interests, aspirations, and areas for growth - both in and outside of the classroom as the more we know, the more we can support your journey at ABA.   Complete our Inquiry Form to provide us with more detailed information (this step will be required if you begin the application process).

With appropriate safety procedures in place we are happy to welcome prospective families to visit our campus. THE registrar will have already made contact with you after submitting the inquiry form in step 1. Please reach out to the admissions team directly if you would like to book a campus tour.

ABA offers rolling admissions meaning that if we have space, we are happy to consider your application now or as soon as you are ready - so apply early to get a priority answer about next year.  We want you to begin to plan for your opportunity at ABA as soon as possible. With an early decision commitment, you will know your spot is reserved, and you can relax and begin to plan your journey as a Viper!

To apply, please have these documents ready to upload digitally.

• Copy of Passport
• Current and previous year school reports (Must be officially translated into English and notarized)
• Submit official school records and/or transcripts for past 2 years.
• Submit Health Form, including copies of Vaccination Card.
• If applicable, provide any and all formal and informal documentation identifying learning and behavioural needs.
• Send a copy of the confidential reference form to your child’s previous school. Request that they complete and submit it directly to ABA (registrar@abaoman.org)

A non-refundable application fee of 75 OMR is required for each application submitted to ABA.  This fee does not guarantee placement.

If you pay via bank transfer, please email a copy of the transfer receipt to the Registrar, along with the name of the applicant/s so that the payment be applied appropriately.

Students applying for Kindergarten 1- Grade 5 may be invited to visit a classroom as part of the admissions process.

Students applying for Grades 3-12 will be scheduled a placement screener at the appropriate time to provide the school with baseline skills equivalent in language and mathematics.

ABA accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the year, subject to availability of spaces.  There is no set application deadline but we do have waitlists for our classes and the earlier you can apply, the better.

Class sizes can vary from year to year.  We use the following guide for class assignments.

16 students for Kindergarten 1 - this class also has a full-time teacher assistant

20 students for Kindergarten 2 and Kindergarten 3 - these classes also have a full-time teacher assistant

22 students from Grades 1 to 10 - Grades 1 to 3 have full or part-time teacher assistants

18 students per subject class for Grades 11 and 12.

Students are responsible for being neat, clean and dressed appropriately for serious study.  Students are expected to take responsibility for their attire based on these codes and come to school dressed in an appropriate manner with a well-groomed appearance. In respect of our host culture, all clothing should be loose-fitting and plain (i.e. no embroidery, large logos, excessive rivets, large/numerous pockets, etc.) 

ABA does not offer bussing. However, parents may wish to use the services of Abdullah Bin Salim Enterprises,  a company also utilised by ABA for field trip transportation. The company currently services Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos, Sultan Qaboos University, Shatti Al Qurum and Al Mouj.
