The International Schools Conference Oman (ISCO) is a platform that brings together educators, leaders, and school staff from across the Sultanate to engage in meaningful professional learning, collaboration, and shared practice.
Founded by ABA Oman International School, ISCO was first hosted in 2024, welcoming over 600 educators and establishing a strong foundation for sector-wide connection and growth . In 2025, the conference expanded significantly under the joint hosting of Cheltenham Muscat and Downe House Muscat, drawing just under 1,000 participants and further strengthening collaboration across Oman’s international school community.
ISCO returns to ABA in 2026 with the theme “Connected Practice: From Vision to Impact.” The conference will take place on November 5, 2026, with a continued emphasis on practical, teacher-led sessions that showcase real-world application and measurable impact in classrooms and schools.
Alongside ISCO, ABA Oman International School will host a broader professional development offering across November 5 and 6, featuring two independent learning experiences:
- A literacy pop-up workshop with Erin Kent Consulting on November 6, focused on Literacy in International Schools: Amplifying Inquiry through Structured Reading and Writing.
- A suite of International Baccalaureate (IB) workshops running across November 5 and 6, providing program-specific professional learning across the PYP, MYP, and DP
These experiences will run in parallel as distinct professional learning opportunities, allowing participants to select the pathway most relevant to their context and needs.
Together, ISCO and these parallel offerings position ABA as a hub for connected, high-impact professional learning, supporting educators across Oman in translating vision into practice.

EKC POP-UP: Friday, November 6, 2026
Literacy in International Schools: Amplifying Inquiry through Structured Reading and Writing
Across international schools, literacy is at a crossroads. Educators are navigating tension between inquiry-based learning and a global shift toward explicit, structured literacy - often without clarity and sometimes with resistance. This one-day EKC Pop-up Conference in Oman explores what is changing, why it matters, and what this means for international and IB/PYP classrooms.
Participants will leave with shared language, research-informed insight, and practical direction to make intentional literacy decisions that strengthen foundations while honouring inquiry.
Audience: K-12 international, IB, and school-based educators - those new to structured literacy, those unsure or skeptical, and those already exploring how it fits alongside inquiry.
